Michigan State will be hosting a Detroit native and Jackson State transfer on an official visit this weekend.

As spring practice winds down, the Michigan State Spartans are already looking ahead to bolster their roster for the fall. This weekend, the program is rolling out the green carpet for a talented wide receiver looking for a homecoming.

Jackson State transfer Jameel Gardner, a Detroit native and former Cass Tech standout, is scheduled for an official visit to East Lansing. The 6'3" receiver brings valuable experience and a proven track record of production, having played at both the FBS and FCS levels.

Gardner began his collegiate career at Kent State, where he caught 24 passes for nearly 300 yards and a touchdown. After transferring to Jackson State, he developed into a key target, hauling in 32 receptions for 483 yards and two touchdowns this past season. For his career, he boasts 68 catches for 888 yards and four scores, showcasing reliable hands and the ability to move the chains.

For the Spartans, adding a player of Gardner's caliber addresses a clear need for depth and experience in the wide receiver room. His size and collegiate production make him an intriguing potential weapon for the offense. A successful visit could see this Detroit native trading in the Tigers' blue and white for the Spartans' green and white, adding a local flavor to Michigan State's passing attack for the upcoming season.
