The Kelowna Rockets have made a massive statement for their future, selecting forward Madden Daneault with the first overall pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. This 15-year-old phenom is already turning heads across the junior hockey world, and for good reason.
Daneault spent last season dominating the AEHL U15 league with the Red Deer Rebels U15 AAA team. Listed at 5'11" and 172 pounds, he posted jaw-dropping numbers: 65 goals and 149 points in just 34 games. That's nearly 4.4 points per game—a pace that puts him in elite company. He also served as team captain, showing leadership that goes beyond the scoresheet.
His playoff performance was equally impressive. In nine postseason games, Daneault lit the lamp 11 times and added 22 points, proving he can elevate his game when the stakes are highest. He also saw limited action at the U18 level in 2025-26, giving scouts a glimpse of his ability to compete against older competition.
The accolades are piling up fast. Daneault has won the John Reid Memorial MVP in each of the last two years and earned spots on the AEHL U15 First All-Star Team in both 2024-25 and 2025-26. For a player his age, that kind of consistency is rare and speaks to his work ethic and natural talent.
For the Rockets, landing a player of Daneault's caliber is a huge win. He brings speed, skill, and a scoring touch that could make him a cornerstone for years to come. As the WHL continues to produce NHL-ready talent, all eyes will be on how this young star develops in Kelowna's system.
