Liverpool and Arsenal are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign 16-year-old Norwegian midfield sensation Eirik Granaas—a name that might not ring a bell for most fans just yet, but one that's quickly making waves in the football world.

The young prodigy currently plays for Fredrikstad FK in Norway, where he's already made five senior appearances and even found the back of the net. With his rapid rise and sky-high potential, it's no surprise that some of Europe's biggest clubs are taking notice.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have "firmly entered the chase" for Granaas, but they're far from alone. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are also in the mix, alongside European heavyweights Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund. No formal offers have been made yet, but the buzz suggests a high-profile move could be on the horizon.

For Liverpool, this pursuit fits a familiar pattern of investing in top young talent. The recent signing of Rio Ngumoha has already paid dividends, and the Reds have also added youngsters like Mor Talla Ndiaye and Noah Adekoya to their academy ranks in January. However, with Granaas unable to join until 2028 due to age restrictions, Liverpool have plenty of time to weigh their options.

Of course, the immediate priority for Arne Slot's side remains strengthening the first team. The upcoming summer transfer window will be a busy one at Anfield, with sporting director Richard Hughes and Slot expected to work overtime to bring in the right players. If they can't find a way to return to their best, the pressure will only mount—but moves like this show the club is already thinking long-term.
