Idaho's all-time high school scoring king is coming home. Kase Wynott, the former Lapwai High School superstar who spent the last two seasons with Washington State, announced his commitment to the University of Idaho Vandals via Instagram on Friday.

This move marks a significant homecoming for the 6-foot-6 guard, who shattered the state's prep scoring record with 2,962 points, won three state championships, and was named Idaho's Gatorade Player of the Year in 2024. After entering the transfer portal this spring, Wynott cited his strong relationship with head coach Alex Pribble and a desire to stay close to home as key factors in his decision.

"I had a great relationship with Coach Pribble and the staff going into the portal," Wynott told the Tribune. "And I wanted to stay close to this area and they just came off a really good year, so it kind of felt like it was a no-brainer."

Wynott's arrival is a major coup for a Vandals program riding high. Idaho is fresh off its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1990, and Wynott is Coach Pribble's first official transfer addition this offseason, helping to offset the departure of key players like Big Sky Freshman of the Year Jackson Rasmussen.

"Kase is coming home!" Pribble said in a statement. "He was a recruit we really prioritized... We want the best players from Idaho to be in this program, and Kase is the all-time leading scorer from the state, so we’re very excited. He’ll make an immediate impact next year."

While his playing time was limited at Washington State, Wynott now joins a program where his versatile scoring ability and competitive fire are desperately needed. He becomes a cornerstone for the Vandals as they look to build on their historic season and establish themselves as a consistent force in the Big Sky Conference.
