Noa Lang's future is once again up in the air as Galatasaray have decided against making his loan move permanent, leaving Napoli to find a new home for the Dutch winger.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international joined Napoli from PSV Eindhoven last summer in a deal worth €25m plus bonuses, but his time in Serie A was short-lived. With just one goal and two assists in 27 appearances across all competitions—only nine of which were starts—it became clear that the move wasn't working out. Beyond his struggles on the pitch, Lang's relationship with Napoli head coach Antonio Conte soured, with the player publicly criticizing the manager in the media after his January loan to Galatasaray.
The hope was that Galatasaray would trigger their €30m buy option after paying €2m for the six-month loan, but the winger's form in Turkey has been similarly underwhelming. In 17 appearances, Lang has managed just two goals and two assists—both of those goals coming in a single match, the Champions League play-off against Juventus on February 17. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray will now send Lang back to Italy.
With Conte still at the helm, a return to Napoli seems highly unlikely. The club is now scrambling to find a solution, whether through a quick sale or another loan deal with an option to buy—ideally one that doesn't result in a net financial loss on their initial investment. For Lang, it's a chance to hit the reset button and find a club where he can rediscover the form that made him a star at PSV.
