Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has been handed a significant two-year ban from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The decision comes after the paceman withdrew from a commitment to Islamabad United for the 2026 PSL season to instead join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The PCB's firm stance highlights the growing tension for player availability between the world's premier T20 leagues. In a statement, the board noted, "In this instance, despite a clear offer and an unequivocal acceptance of essential terms, the player chose to disregard these obligations in favor of a conflicting arrangement."

Muzarabani's stock rose significantly following a stellar T20 World Cup, where he finished as the joint third-highest wicket-taker with 13 scalps, helping Zimbabwe reach the Super Eights. Initially going unsold in the PSL auction, he was later signed directly by Islamabad United as a replacement for West Indies' Shamar Joseph.

His move to KKR came as a replacement for Bangladeshi seamer Mustafizur Rahman, who was released from the squad. For KKR, Muzarabani has made an immediate impact in the 2026 IPL season, claiming four wickets in his first two appearances, albeit at a slightly expensive economy rate.

This ban serves as a stark reminder of the contractual obligations players face in the high-stakes world of franchise cricket, where league loyalties are increasingly tested by lucrative global opportunities.
