The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and the Dallas Cowboys are poised for a pivotal night with two first-round selections. Insider buzz is growing louder, with speculation that the front office may be looking to trade up from the 12th overall spot to secure a premier talent. However, any potential move hinges on finding a willing trade partner at the right price.
Should the Cowboys stand pat, several defensive prospects have emerged as strong possibilities, particularly for a secondary that could see a major overhaul. In a recent fan Q&A, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram highlighted a few names flying under the radar.
When asked about prospects not receiving enough attention, Harris pointed to Miami defensive end Akheem Mesidor, along with cornerbacks Chris Johnson (San Diego State) and Keionte Scott (Miami). He also noted that the top-tier defensive backs—LSU's Mansoor Delane, along with Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles, and Rueben Bain—remain firmly on the Cowboys' radar.
The most intriguing connection appears to be with Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood. Harris suggested that if Dallas reaches the 20th pick without having addressed the secondary, Hood could very well be the selection. Stepping up as CB1 for the Volunteers last season, Hood earned a solid 79.2 defensive grade from Pro Football Focus, showcasing the kind of reliable, high-effort play that could immediately bolster the Cowboys' defensive backfield.
