The rumor mill is heating up in Turin, and this one has a familiar ring to it. According to Thursday's reports, Juventus have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid veteran David Alaba on a free transfer when his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.

For the Bianconeri, it's a classic "low-risk, high-reward" scenario. Alaba, a 111-cap Austria international, has spent the last five seasons in Madrid after joining on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, where he enjoyed a decade of dominance. Now 33, the defender is expected to leave Los Blancos this summer when his current deal runs out on June 30, following a challenging three-year stretch marred by fitness struggles. His biggest setback came in December 2023, when he tore his ACL, sidelining him for much of the 2024-25 campaign.

Despite those injury concerns, Alaba's résumé is nothing short of staggering. He has won 10 Bundesliga titles, four Champions League crowns, six DFB-Pokal trophies, three German Super Cups, two LaLiga titles, a Copa del Rey, a Supercopa de España, three UEFA Super Cups, and three Club World Cups. That kind of trophy cabinet doesn't just add depth—it adds pedigree. And for a Juventus side looking to rebuild its identity, Alaba's versatility is a major selling point. He can slot in as a left-sided center-back, a left-back, or even in central midfield, giving Thiago Motta's squad much-needed flexibility at the back and in the middle of the park.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus are weighing a move this summer, fully aware of his injury history and the financial implications. Alaba currently earns over €10 million per season after tax in Spain, and any deal would require him to take a significant pay cut. But the report suggests that conversations between the club and Alaba's agent, Pini Zahavi, are already underway—and that the player's camp has "opened up" to the idea of a move to Turin next season.

For Juventus fans, this could be a savvy piece of business: a battle-tested champion with a point to prove, available on a free transfer. Whether his body holds up remains the big question, but if it does, Alaba could be the kind of signing that helps the Old Lady return to the top of Italian football.
