Happy Thursday, Crimson Tide faithful! We've got some intriguing updates from the world of Alabama football, straight from the fairways of the Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament. Both Kalen DeBoer and Nick Saban were in attendance, and as always, the legendary coach couldn't escape the microphone.
First up, DeBoer offered some encouraging words on the ongoing quarterback competition. Reflecting on the progress made over the past year, he noted, "They know that a year ago there was so much improvement by all of them... even with Ty (Simpson), going from the spring to the fall, he came back and made another big jump." He expressed high expectations for the summer, adding, "I'd expect for them to take another big leap... They're going to work hard. They're early morning guys, in there early. They're real pros, much like the other guys that have been here." It's the kind of dedication that makes you proud to wear the crimson and white.
But the real buzz came from Nick Saban himself. When asked about DeBoer's recent contract extension, Saban was characteristically straightforward: "I think coaching is a competitive field... If Alabama wanted to keep him, they needed to do what they needed to do to keep him. I'm happy he's the coach." A strong vote of confidence from the man who built the dynasty.
And for those still holding out hope for a Saban sideline return? He admitted, "I miss coaching a little bit. I miss the relationships with the players. I miss the competition. But it's a trade off." However, any comeback dreams were quickly dashed by the ultimate authority: Miss Terry. "When people call, alls I can tell all the fans out there is Miss Terry says if you take a job, you're commuting. She's not moving. She's not leaving the grandkids." When asked if that means a firm no, Saban simply replied, "No, that's probably right." So, it looks like the GOAT is staying put.
In other news, CBS's Brandon Marcello has placed Alabama at No. 14 in his post-spring rankings. While it's early, the Tide is positioned to outperform expectations. With a stable coaching staff and a hungry quarterback room, there's plenty of reason for optimism. Gear up, Bama Nation—this season is shaping up to be a thrilling ride.
