The New York Jets are making another move to bolster their wide receiver corps, and this time they're adding some veteran experience to the mix. After selecting rookie Omar Cooper in the first round of the draft, the team has reportedly agreed to terms with veteran wideout Tim Patrick, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.
Patrick, who visited with the team on Wednesday, brings a wealth of NFL experience to the Jets' locker room. Last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he hauled in 15 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns. But his journey hasn't been without its share of adversity—after spending six seasons with the Denver Broncos, Patrick missed the entire 2022 and 2023 campaigns due to a torn ACL and a torn Achilles. He bounced back with the Detroit Lions in 2024, recording 33 catches for 394 yards and three scores.
What makes this signing particularly interesting is the connection factor. Jets General Manager Darren Mougey worked in Denver during Patrick's tenure with the Broncos, while head coach Aaron Glenn served as Detroit's defensive coordinator last season. That familiarity could be key in helping Patrick hit the ground running in New York.
Over his career, Patrick has proven to be a reliable target when healthy, with 143 catches for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns in Denver alone. Now, he'll join a receiver room that's suddenly looking deep and versatile. Alongside rookie Omar Cooper, the Jets boast Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams, Arian Smith, and Irv Charles.
For a team looking to make noise in 2026, adding a battle-tested veteran like Patrick could be the kind of move that pays off big when the pressure is on.
