Jesse Minter is embracing the big chair—and he's loving every second of it. Just two days into rookie minicamp, the new head coach opened up about the transition from defensive coordinator to overseeing the entire team, and his energy is already setting the tone.
"The best part is no matter what happens on the play, you can be happy and excited," Minter said with a grin. "Whether it's a good play by the defense or the offense, it's all good for me." That fresh perspective is a game-changer. As a coordinator, you're laser-focused on one side of the ball. As the head man, you get to celebrate every win—big or small—across all three phases.
Minter isn't just watching from the sidelines, though. He's keeping his hands firmly in the defensive playbook while making sure the offense knows exactly what he's about. "I have to set an example by how I operate out here," he explained. "I'm trying to be present with all three phases and go from there."
For a coach who built his reputation on defense, this expanded role is a chance to shape the entire team's identity from day one. And with rookie minicamp in full swing, Minter's approach is clear: leadership isn't just about calling plays—it's about bringing everyone together. Two days in, and it's already a good start.
