The Indiana Hoosiers are making moves. Head coach Darian DeVries continues to shape his 2026-27 roster, securing a key addition from the transfer portal: guard Justin Monden.

Monden, who arrives from Maryland Eastern Shore, brings a valuable veteran presence to Bloomington. With one year of eligibility remaining, the 6-foot, 160-pound guard previously spent two seasons at Georgia Southwestern State before his stint with the Hawks.

Last season, Monden appeared in 32 games, making one start. He averaged 6 points and 1.6 assists per game while logging 20.7 minutes on the court. According to KenPom, he split time between point guard and shooting guard, ultimately earning 53% of the team's minutes at the two spot. However, Monden is primarily a driving guard, shooting just 27% from beyond the arc on 2.3 attempts per game.

Given his production at a lower level and the talent already on Indiana's roster, Monden is expected to serve as a depth piece. He'll back up both Markus Burton and Bryce Lindsay, while also pushing freshman Prince-Alexander Moody in practice for those crucial reserve minutes.

While his size might limit his ability to become an impact role player in the rugged Big Ten, Monden's collegiate experience should prove invaluable to a relatively young Hoosiers squad that has yet to play a single game together. As DeVries continues to build chemistry and depth, this addition could pay dividends down the stretch.
