The Las Vegas Raiders have their eyes on the future, and it's looking a lot like the Arizona Wildcats' secondary. When general manager John Spytek called safety a critical need for the team and praised the depth of the 2026 NFL Draft class at that position, he wasn't just talking—he was acting.

In a bold move that underscores the Raiders' belief in this year's safety talent, Spytek orchestrated trades to bring not one, but two Arizona Wildcats standouts to Sin City. Treydan Stukes was selected in the second round (38th overall), and his defensive backfield partner Dalton Johnson followed in the fifth round (150th overall).

The strategy was deliberate. Las Vegas traded down from the 36th pick, allowing the Houston Texans to snag defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, and then watched Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood go 37th before securing Stukes. Three rounds later, Spytek moved up to pick 150 to reunite the Wildcat starters in Silver & Black.

This marks the first time since 2009 that two University of Arizona teammates have been drafted by the same NFL team. That year, it was offensive tackle Eben Britton and wide receiver Mike Thomas who made the leap together. Now, Stukes and Johnson are ready to write their own chapter in Raider lore.

"Being drafted is one thing, but to be drafted to a team that I get to go somewhere with my best friend and continue this 'Bear Down Brotherhood,' I'm super excited," Johnson told the Arizona Daily Star after hearing his name called. "I called (Stukes) real quick and he couldn't believe it. He said, 'This is the best day of my life.'"

"It's one thing to be drafted and I'm so grateful to be a Raider, and then on top of that, I get to do it with Stukes. Probably the best day of our lives for both of us."

For fans wondering what these two bring to the table, the numbers speak volumes. In 2025, Stukes appeared in 10 games, recording 52 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, and six pass deflections. Over his career (2020-2025), he played in 52 games and amassed 206 total tackles and one sack—showcasing the kind of versatility that makes him a potential starter from day one.

Johnson, meanwhile, brings his own brand of grit and chemistry to the Raiders' secondary. Together, they represent not just depth, but a proven partnership that could translate into immediate impact on the field. For a team looking to shore up its defensive backfield, this reunion might be exactly what the Silver & Black need to turn potential into production.
