The latest Minnesota high school softball state rankings, released May 14 by the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches' Association, showcase a thrilling shake-up as teams jockey for postseason position in the final stretch of the regular season. In Class A, the race is tighter than ever. Martin County West leaps from third to first with 67 points, overtaking former leader United South Central, which drops to third with 60 points. Houston holds steady at second with 63 points, while Red Lake Falls (53) and New Ulm Cathedral (41) round out the top five. Barnum and Silver Bay (William Kelley) are making noise in Section 7, tied at sixth and seventh respectively, with Swanville also tied for seventh in Section 6. Others receiving votes include BOLD (Section 3), West Lutheran, Border West, and Cleveland.

In Class AA, the competition is fierce. Belle Plaine leads the pack with 14 votes, followed by Hawley (8) and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (8), with Cotter Schools/Hope Lutheran and Kimball Area also in the mix. This composite ranking reflects input from sections 1 through 8, ensuring a broad view of the state's talent.

Class AAA sees Hill-Murray School topping the "others receiving votes" list with 15, ahead of Rocori (10) and Hermantown (9). St. Peter, Mankato West, St. Francis, and Simley also earned nods, with voting from sections 1 through 5.

Finally, in Class AAAA, Cambridge-Isanti (13 votes) leads the chase pack, followed by Maple Grove (12) and White Bear Lake Area (9). This division's rankings come from sections 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, highlighting the depth of talent across the state.
