
Harper Dennis dazzled in Allen’s dominant 11-1 win over Prosper on Friday.
Dennis drove in seven runs on two hits and drew a walk in the win that improved Allen to 14–0 in District 6-6A and 23-3 on the season. She helped power a scoring surge in the bottom of the fifth inning, when she hit a grand slam to center field. Allen scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth and Dennis homered for the 13th time this season.
Pitcher Yaya Morgan gave up just four hits in six innings, walking one and striking out five. Morgan also drove in a run when she homered to left field in the bottom of the second inning.
Giuliana Parks drove in Prosper’s sole run of the day on a sacrifice fly. Allen, ranked fourth among the area’s 6A teams, has won 16 in a row.
Before Friday, Dennis, along with Claire McKeever and Ady Fincanon, had combined for 36 home runs.
In a battle of two area-ranked Class 5A teams, Lovejoy shut out Melissa 3-0 on Friday.
Logan Corley gave up three hits and no runs on the mound, striking out nine batters and walking five. Corley made one hit in four at-bats and scored one run as Lovejoy improved to 19–4–1 and 10-0 in District 9-5A. With the win, Lovejoy completed a season sweep of Melissa. Lovejoy beat Melissa 6-1 on Wednesday.
Zach Carlson grounded out in the top of the first inning to put Lovejoy on the board and Brady Sommers stole home to make the score 2-0 in the top of the third.
Lovejoy scored its final run on a Carson Branch homer to left field in the top of the sixth.
Gianni Corral, Grapevine: He helped Grapevine to a 7-0 win over Birdville with 4 RBIs on two hits. He hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning that drove in three runs.
Lucas Nawrocki, Aledo: In a 12-0 shutout of Saginaw, Nawrocki went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in four runs. He homered in the second inning of the game, helping Aledo to a 24–2 record.
Cooper Skinner, Flower Mound: He hit an RBI-double to help Flower Mound take the lead late in a 5-4 win over crosstown rival Flower Mound Marcus.
Cole Koeninger, Keller: He recorded 10 strikeouts and gave up just two hits in six innings, helping Keller to a 7-0 win over Keller Timber Creek.
Calliee Cribbs, Keller: She gave up just one hit in five innings on the mound, recording two strikeouts and allowing three walks in Keller’s 9-0 win over Euless Trinity. Cribbs finished with one hit in two at bats and scored two runs. Keller, ranked 10th in the area among 6A teams, improved to 21–9–1.
Finlee Williams, Melissa: In an 8-5 win over Lovejoy, Williams was 2-for-3 at the plate. She drove in three runs and scored two more, also drawing a walk. Williams’ home run in the bottom of the fourth helped Melissa increase its lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Lauren McIllwain, Frisco Wakeland: The area’s third-ranked class 5A team improved to 22–5–1 thanks in part to McIllwain’s three hits in five at bats. She scored two runs and recorded two RBIs in Wakleland’s 15-3 win over Carrollton Creekview. The Louisiana Tech pledge homered in the third inning.
The number of runs Frisco Reedy softball recorded in its shutout of Carrollton Newman Smith. Elyn Miller drove in a team-high five runs in three at bats and pitchers Malaina Boyst Addison Daudelin allowed no hits in the 29-0 win.
The number of hits Denton Guyer baseball recorded in a 4-0 shutout of Little Elm. Braeden Littlefield led the team with three hits.
