For the sixth straight week, five Scioto County baseball teams have secured spots in the latest Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) polls, showcasing the depth of talent in the region.
Green continues to apply serious pressure on Division VII's top-ranked Calvert, earning 136 points and two first-place votes to hold firm at No. 2. The Bobcats are riding high with a 17-4 record, fueled by a team batting average of .314. Standout performers include Gabe Blevins (.441), Riddick Jenkins (.417), and Jon Knapp (.403, two home runs, nine doubles, 29 RBI). On the mound, Knapp (7-1, 0.71 ERA) and Blevins (3-1, 0.96 ERA) have been dominant, combining for 121 strikeouts against just 17 walks.
In Division V, Minford slipped one spot to No. 3 but remains a powerhouse with 150 points. The Falcons have outscored opponents 145-45 through 18 games, winning 11 contests by five or more runs. A recent 11-1 mercy-rule victory over Oak Hill featured 14 hits, including five extra-base knocks. Pitchers Ty Borland and Max Lauder also shined, holding Northwest to three hits in a road win without allowing an earned run.
Clay made a significant leap to No. 4 in Division VII, boasting a 17-5 record. Sophomore Evan Rider is the catalyst, batting .500 with a 1.318 OPS, 10 doubles, a home run, 16 RBI, and 33 runs scored. He's drawn 18 walks while striking out just five times. On the mound, Rider is 6-3 with a 1.53 ERA and 63 strikeouts. Teammates Noah Woods (.410, 1.206 OPS) and Cade Munion (.407, 1.000 OPS) are also key contributors.
Valley jumped to No. 8 in Division V, while South Webster cracked the top-12 in Division VII. With 45 percent of Scioto County's baseball programs now ranked, the area's reputation as a hotbed for high school talent continues to grow.
