In the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints did not trade up as many rumors were suggesting they would, instead filling a position of need and getting another offensive weapon for Tyler Shough by selecting Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson.

Here are just a few facts to help you get to know one of the newest members of the New Orleans Saints:

Tyson attended Allen High School in Frisco, Texas. During his senior year, he had 80 catches for 1,512 yards and 12 touchdowns receiving, completed both of his pass attempts for 34 yards and a touchdown, and on special teams had 10 returns for 212 yards, which helped to lead the Eagles to an 11-3 record.

Jordyn Tyson comes from a very athletic family. Tyson also played basketball in high school. His father John played football at Florida A&M. Tyson’s older brother Berron played college football at South Alabama, where he now serves as their strength and conditioning coach and Jordyn’s other brother Jaylon, is current member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jaylon was actually playing in a playoff game against the Toronto Raptors when Jordyn was selected by the Saints. The brothers have become the first siblings to be drafted in the first round of two different sports.

Tyson was mentored in college by former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward. Ward has been the wide receiver’s coach for the Arizona State Sun Devils since 2024.

In 2024, Tyson led the Sun Devils with 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 starts, which earned him Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors. He led the team once again in 2025 with 61 receptions for 711 yards and 8 touchdowns, scoring a scrimmage TD in each of his team’s first 7 games (8 receiving, 1 rushing) before missing time due to injury. His 1,812 receiving yards over the last two seasons are 4th-most among all Power 4 players in that span. Tyson was also named 2× as a First-Team All-Big 12 (2024 and 2025)
