Former Notre Dame guard Sir Mohammed has been in the transfer portal for a while, but on Monday made his commitment to an Ivy League program.

After an eventful offseason for Notre Dame men's basketball, one of its former players has finally found a new home. Guard Sir Mohammed, who entered the transfer portal earlier this spring, announced Monday that he will continue his career with the University of Pennsylvania Quakers.

Mohammed arrived in South Bend with sky-high expectations. As the son of former NBA standout Nazr Mohammed, he was ranked among the top-75 prospects nationally in the 247Sports Composite. However, his two seasons with the Fighting Irish didn't quite match the hype, leading to his decision to seek a fresh start elsewhere.

While the transfer window officially closed weeks ago, Mohammed took his time to weigh his options. The move from the ACC to the Ivy League represents a significant shift in competition level, but the academic prestige of Penn makes the transition an understandable choice.

Last season, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 5.7 points per game for Notre Dame. He'll join a Quakers squad that returns three starters, including first-team All-Ivy selection TJ Power, from a team that made the NCAA tournament. This gives Mohammed a chance to contribute immediately in a program on the rise.

We're excited to see how Mohammed's game develops at Penn. Between the high-level coaching and a world-class education, this could be the perfect environment for him to resurrect his career. Best of luck to Sir as he writes the next chapter of his basketball journey!
