A former LSU women's basketball guard won't be moving far, transferring to one of LSU's chief SEC rivals.

In a move that's sure to add fuel to one of the SEC's fiercest rivalries, former LSU women's basketball guard Jada Richard is staying in the conference. The sophomore point guard has committed to transfer to Ole Miss, as confirmed by multiple reports on Friday.

Richard, an Opelousas, Louisiana native, spent two seasons with the Tigers. After limited playing time as a freshman, she stepped into a starting role this past season, averaging a solid 9.5 points and 3.3 assists per game. Her decision to enter the transfer portal following LSU's Sweet 16 exit to Duke was somewhat unexpected, as she was poised to return alongside backcourt stars Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley. The move suggests a desire for an expanded offensive role with her new team.

Head coach Kim Mulkey had praised Richard's significant offseason development, noting her growth as a facilitator, defender, and a more confident shooter. Now, that development will be showcased in Oxford, setting the stage for some must-watch conference clashes. When LSU and Ole Miss meet next season, Richard will be wearing the opposing colors, adding a compelling personal narrative to an already intense SEC showdown.
