Anfield is set for another epic European night, and despite a challenging season, Liverpool's Champions League dream is still alive. Trailing 2-0 from a difficult first leg in Paris, Arne Slot's side faces a monumental task against the reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain. A victory would not only be a stunning comeback but would also book a semi-final spot against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, setting the stage for a legendary chapter in the club's history.

The challenge is immense, especially considering PSG's dramatic penalty shootout victory at Anfield just last season. However, the magic of a European night under the lights is a powerful force, and former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes the formula for success is clear.

Speaking exclusively to Anfield Index, Collymore drew on his own experience from a 1997 Cup Winners' Cup semi-final, where Liverpool nearly overturned a 3-0 deficit against PSG. "Liverpool need tempo and aggression to overturn this tie," Collymore emphasized. "We scored very early, and if Liverpool get a goal in the first 10 minutes at Anfield, anything is possible."

He pointed directly to the club's rich history of comebacks, a mythology that will undoubtedly be on the minds of the PSG players. "PSG will be very aware of the Anfield mythology and the Barcelona result a few seasons ago – it was an impossible result, but they turned it around. If Liverpool start quickly and are at it from the first whistle, they can get back into the tie."

The critical warning from the former Red is to avoid letting the match settle. "If the game settles down into a classic European second leg, then PSG have the ability and tools to pick Liverpool off. Liverpool can’t allow that." The call is for relentless pressure from the first minute to the last.

While the team's form has been inconsistent, the squad is still brimming with players capable of producing match-winning brilliance. This season, the creative burden has often fallen to Dominik Szoboszlai, whose moments of magic have been crucial. On a night like this, individual quality combined with collective intensity could be the key to scaling that mountain and creating another unforgettable Anfield story.
