For whatever reason, the Arizona Cardinals have made a habit of signing former Atlanta Falcons players. They even gave Desmond Ridder a chance after he flunked out in Atlanta.

The latest to join the Falcons-to-Cardinals pipeline is running back Tyler Allgeier, who signed with Arizona so that he'd finally be able to fill a lead-back role after playing backup to top-10 overall pick Bijan Robinson.

Allgeier couldn't have been happy to see the Cards picking the top running back in the class of 2026, Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame at No. 3 overall. Here's ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter breaking it down on the latest edition of his podcast.

Tyler Allgeier left Atlanta to sign with Arizona so he finally could be the lead back. Then on draft night, with the third overall pick, the Cardinals selected Jeremiyah Love, thrusting Allgeier right back into a similar position.🎧 https://t.co/L5QFLqW3WV pic.twitter.com/u0rcpgMFMo

One can't help but feel bad for Allgeier, who has performed well since the Falcons drafted him in 2022. In 67 games he's put up nearly 3,400 yards from scrimmage and scored 20 touchdowns. Nevertheless, Allgeier saw his carries drop over time as Bijan Robinson's role grew. He went from seeing 210 carries as a rookie to just 143 last season.

Arizona picking Love that early came as a surprise, especially since they were in need of a new potential franchise quarterback - but they waited until the top of the third round to draft Carson Beck.

Hopefully Allgeier eventually gets a chance at a RB1 role, but it's unlikely to happen in Arizona as long as Love is healthy.
