JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Former ETSU guard Jaylen Smith has reopened his recruitment after previously committing to the Kent State Golden Flashes, he announced on social media.

The 5-foot-11 junior point guard averaged 9.1 points, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game last season, earning Southern Conference Sixth Man of the Year honors while helping ETSU claim the regular-season title.

Smith, who began his career at North Florida, said in a post to X that he is reopening his recruitment and thanked Kent State’s coaching staff for the opportunity.

He now returns to the transfer portal in search of his next destination.
