The Atlanta Falcons made waves after the 2026 NFL Draft, adding six new players before quickly locking in agreements with 16 undrafted free agents. While the team hasn't officially announced its UDFA class just yet, we expect that to happen sometime this week. Among the new faces is a familiar local talent: former Georgia running back Cash Jones.
Atlanta's undrafted haul covers plenty of ground: one quarterback, one running back, two tight ends, five wide receivers, three offensive linemen, two defensive linemen, one specialist, and one defensive back. Several other players have also been invited to the team's rookie minicamp, so competition will be fierce from the start.
Let's take a closer look at what Cash Jones brings to the Falcons.
Jones spent his entire college career in Athens, rushing for 253 yards and three touchdowns on an impressive 4.9 yards per carry. But the real story is his work as a third-down back and pass-catching specialist. Over his time with the Bulldogs, Jones hauled in 57 catches for 573 receiving yards and six touchdowns — showing he can be a reliable safety valve out of the backfield. In 2025 alone, he posted 15 rushing yards, 20 catches for 195 receiving yards, and one touchdown.
The Falcons already have a strong one-two punch in Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr., but Jones's third-down savvy gives him a real shot at cracking the 53-man roster. Head coach Kevin Stefanski loves utilizing the screen game, which makes Jones and third-round pick Zachariah Branch intriguing fits for this offense.
Jones also offers special-teams value, something that could help him stand out during training camp. While he's not known primarily as a returner, he did log four kick returns for 58 yards at Georgia. According to The Athletic's Dane Brugler, "Jones isn't a well-rounded offensive player, but his pass-catching skills and the makeup to be a core-four special teamer will earn him legitimate looks at the back end of an NFL roster."
For Falcons fans, Jones is a name to watch — a local product with the versatility to carve out a role in Atlanta's backfield and on special teams.
Also among the reported undrafted free agent signings: quarterback Jack Strand from MSU-Moorhead, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Falcons met with Strand before the draft, and he'll now compete for a spot in the quarterback room.
