Falcons sign D-II QB star to undrafted free agent contract originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
But the Atlanta Falcons just signed QB Jack Strand, and it's an intriguing move.
The news was reported soon after the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft as undrafted free agency got underway:
Former Minnesota-Moorhead QB Jack Strand is signing with the Falcons, source said. An NFL shot for the Division II star.
Strand is originally from Bloomer, Wisconsin, and he took the chance in Minnesota State-Moorhead after high school.
In 2025, he threw for 3,546 yards and 42 touchdowns.
Strand certainly looks the part at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds.
There was some wondering whether he could even be a seventh-round pick.
Instead, he has to settle for being a rapid UDFA signing.
The Falcons have Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa, but behind them is just Trevor Siemian. Strand will get a chance to compete for the QB3 job in Atlanta.
