Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has lifted the lid on exactly how much Manchester United stand to bank from making Rasmus Hojlund's Napoli move permanent—and it's a tidy sum that could reshape the club's summer transfer plans.

The Danish striker's time at Old Trafford never quite clicked. Signed for a hefty £72 million from Atalanta, Hojlund managed just four Premier League goals last season, a tally that ultimately sealed his fate. Despite his desire to stay, United opted to ship him out on a season-long loan to Napoli last summer—a move that has actually breathed new life into his career.

Now plying his trade in Serie A, the 22-year-old has rediscovered his scoring touch. In 30 league appearances for the Partenopei, he's bagged 10 goals and chipped in with four assists. While his last league strike came back in March against Lecce, that dip in form hasn't dampened Napoli's enthusiasm. The Italian giants are still expected to trigger their obligation to buy—a clause tied to securing Champions League football.

But here's the twist: Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna recently confirmed that Hojlund is very much in their long-term plans, Champions League qualification or not. So barring a dramatic U-turn, the Dane is all but certain to be wearing the famous blue shirt permanently next season.

So what does that mean for United's coffers? According to Romano, the total package is set to hit €50 million. Breaking it down on his YouTube channel, the transfer guru explained: "United could get the final green light to receive €44 million, a total package of €50 million, for Rasmus Hojlund. If Napoli get official Champions League qualification on Monday, the obligation to buy will be activated."

Romano added that this figure includes the €6 million loan fee United already pocketed in August 2025. "The €50 million package is set to be activated next week," he confirmed. "Hojlund will also have a release clause in his contract from June 2027—not this summer, but from next summer—valid for €85 million."

For United, this is a solid return on a player who never quite lived up to his price tag. And for fans keeping an eye on the transfer market, that €50 million injection could be the catalyst for a busy summer at Old Trafford. Whether it's reinvested in a new striker or spread across multiple positions, one thing's for sure: Hojlund's exit is shaping up to be a win-win for all parties involved.
