Emiliano Viviano praised Inter Milan boss Cristian Chivu, linking his success to the influence of Simone Inzaghi.
During the latest episode of ‘Pressing’ via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri goalkeeper discussed Chivu’s outstanding first season at San Siro.
Inter Milan secured a third consecutive Serie A win on Friday, easing past perennial strugglers Cagliari to cement their place at the top.
Indeed, with just five games left to play, the San Siro giants sit a whopping 12 points clear of second-placed Napoli.
Therefore, Cristian Chivu is on the verge of winning the Scudetto in his first full managerial season in Italy’s top flight.
Despite lacking experience in senior management, the 45-year-old has fared remarkably since replacing Simone Inzaghi in the dugout.
However, it’s fair to say that the current Al-Hilal manager laid the foundations for this success during his spell at the club.
Inzaghi left Inter shortly after an embarrassing loss to Paris Saint-Germain in last season’s Champions League final.
However, the 50-year-old guided the club to two Champions League finals in three years before departing to the Middle East.
Furthermore, Inzaghi won two Serie A titles with the Nerazzurri during his highly successful stint at San Siro.
“Inter were strong and well-coached,” Viviano said. “Chivu did a masterpiece, given his lack of experience.
“He managed to lead Inter to at least one trophy, but Inzaghi did incredible things at Inter, reaching two Champions League finals,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Chivu has continued to build on the solid foundations left by his predecessor.
Indeed, the 45-year-old is one step away from lifting the Scudetto and could also secure Coppa Italia glory.
Achieving that feat would see him become the first Inter manager since Jose Mourinho to win a domestic double.
