ESPN recently highlighted Detroit's second-round selection of Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore as one of the best rookie-team fits in the entire 2026 draft class.

Moore, a 6-foot-3, 255-pound pass rusher from Baltimore, is being praised as the "best speed-to-power rusher" in this year's draft. His 10 sacks in 2025 at Michigan were no fluke—he consistently walked offensive tackles back into the pocket with explosive striking power and relentless leg drive. ESPN analyst Matt Bowen noted that Moore's physical style is a perfect match for the Lions, who needed a bruising presence opposite star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson. "Moore's rookie value could be on third downs as a designated rusher out of sub-sets," Bowen wrote. "But with Hutchinson drawing protection slides and chips, Moore can also produce early in one-on-one situations."

The Lions liked Moore enough to trade up with the New York Jets to grab him at pick No. 44. Beyond his 10 sacks last season, Moore also racked up 10.5 tackles for loss, 30 total tackles, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. With his blend of power and technique, he's poised to make an immediate impact in Detroit's defensive rotation.
