Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has dropped a bombshell, admitting that star winger Anthony Gordon may have already played his final game for the club. The revelation comes as speculation intensifies over a blockbuster summer move to Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga giants reportedly in advanced talks for the England international.

Gordon, 25, has been sidelined for Newcastle's last four matches—initially due to a hip flexor injury—but whispers of a potential exit have grown louder by the day. When pressed on whether the winger's absence was linked to future planning, Howe offered a telling response: "When you get to this stage of the season, part of what we will be doing is looking to next year, naturally. Anthony's just come back from injury. I think the team has played well in his absence, and with a partial view to the future, yes."

The Newcastle boss remained tight-lipped on any direct negotiations, adding: "No, nothing, no updates from me. These are discussions that potentially might be happening, but not with me."

Howe now faces a critical selection dilemma ahead of Sunday's penultimate Premier League clash against relegation-threatened West Ham at St James' Park. With Brazilian forward Joelinton—who filled Gordon's left-sided attacking role last weekend—nursing a thigh problem, the door could be open for Gordon's return. But would Howe actually play him amid the transfer frenzy?

"If it's the right thing for the team—and I put the team and the club above any individual—then I would play him, of course," Howe affirmed.

Gordon joined Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 and has since become a fan favorite, netting 39 goals in 152 appearances for the Magpies. Ten of those goals came in this season's Champions League, where Newcastle made a spirited run to the round of 16. On the international stage, Gordon has earned 17 caps for England and is widely expected to feature in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad this summer. The German coach is set to announce his 26-man roster for North America on May 22.

Sunday's match also carries emotional weight, as it will mark Kieran Trippier's final appearance at St James' Park before the England full-back departs upon the expiration of his contract.

For Newcastle fans, it's a weekend of farewells—and perhaps the beginning of a new chapter without one of their brightest stars.
