The Philadelphia Eagles are taking a closer look at a familiar face from a division rival, hosting former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Nazeeh Johnson for a free agent visit at the Jefferson Health Training Complex this Monday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Johnson, who turns 28 in July, entered the league as a seventh-round pick (No. 259 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft—just three spots ahead of Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy. While he may not have Purdy's fairy-tale story, Johnson brings intriguing versatility to a secondary that could always use more depth.

Over 35 career games (including playoffs), Johnson has made eight starts and logged 494 defensive snaps—all of which came in 2024—along with 286 snaps on special teams. His journey hasn't been without setbacks: a torn ACL wiped out his entire 2023 season, and a shoulder injury sidelined him for most of 2025. Still, when healthy, he's shown the ability to contribute on both defense and special teams.

At the NFL level, Johnson has primarily lined up as an outside cornerback, but his college tape at Marshall tells a different story. There, he split time between safety and slot corner, giving the Eagles plenty of options if they decide to bring him aboard. How they'd deploy him—whether as a boundary corner, a nickel back, or a hybrid safety—remains to be seen.

If Philadelphia signs Johnson, he'll likely compete for a spot on the 53-man roster as a versatile depth piece in the secondary and a reliable contributor on special teams. For a team that values adaptability and competition, Johnson could be a smart low-risk addition to round out the roster.
