Duke football is shaking up its 2026 schedule with a prime-time twist, moving two key ACC matchups from Saturday to Friday nights. The Blue Devils, fresh off their first outright ACC championship since 1962, are giving fans a double dose of weekday gridiron action.
First up, Duke's rematch of the 2025 ACC Championship Game against Virginia shifts from Saturday, Oct. 24, to Friday, Oct. 23. The Blue Devils edged the Cavaliers 27-20 in overtime to claim the crown last season, and this return trip to Charlottesville promises high stakes under the lights.
Then, Clemson comes to Wallace Wade Stadium on Friday, Nov. 20, instead of Saturday, Nov. 21. This home showdown against the Tigers gives Duke a chance to prove its championship mettle on a national stage, with the Friday slot offering prime exposure for both programs.
Head coach Manny Diaz's squad finished 9-5 in 2025, capping a historic run that saw Duke win its eighth ACC title overall and first outright since 1962. The Blue Devils wrapped up spring practice with their annual Blue & White game on April 18 and now turn their focus to the 2026 season opener against Tulane on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Wallace Wade Stadium.
These Friday night games are a strategic move to boost visibility and create a unique game-day atmosphere. For fans, it means more chances to gear up in Duke blue and cheer on the reigning champs under the Friday night lights.
