Derrick Moore may not have had the same name-brand cache as some of his predecessors at edge rusher, but he still played the part well enough to be a high-level player. Thus, despite not being a first-rounder in the 2026 NFL draft, he was still destined to be a day two pick.

And, as it turns out, he's not going to be traveling too far, and he'll have a somewhat familiar face working opposite him.

Moore's name wasn't called on Thursday, but it was on Friday, with the Detroit Lions trading up in the 2026 NFL draft to select him with the No. 44 overall pick, 12 picks into the second round.

Moore led the Wolverines with 10 sacks in 2025, improving upon the four he accumulated the year before in his first as a starter. He'll pair in Detroit with fellow former Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson, who left Ann Arbor just before Moore arrived on campus in 2022.
