It was a strong night across the Cubs' minor league system, with Knoxville, South Bend, and Mesa all picking up wins. The highlight of the evening came from South Bend, which cruised to a commanding 10-1 victory.

Before we dive into the action, let's check in on some roster moves. Smokies catcher Owen Ayers was named Southern League Player of the Week, a well-deserved honor for the backstop. Meanwhile, right-hander Kenten Egbert returned to High-A South Bend after a brief stint at Triple-A Iowa, and right-hander Frankie Scalzo Jr. headed back to Double-A Knoxville from Iowa. The Iowa Cubs also added right-handers Corbin Martin and Yacksel Rios to their roster.

Unfortunately, the Iowa Cubs couldn't find their rhythm, falling 9-3 to the Nashville Sounds. Starter Paul Campbell took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings, walking four and striking out four. The offense was quiet, with third baseman BJ Murray providing the lone bright spot—he went a perfect 3-for-3 and was hit by a pitch, scoring once. There were no extra-base hits, and the team's three runs came on a passed ball, a sacrifice fly, and an error. Still, second baseman Pedro Ramírez turned in a web gem that's worth watching.

Over in Double-A, the Knoxville Smokies baked the Columbus Clingstones 8-2. Starter Yenrri Rojas threw 74 pitches over 3.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out four and walking one. Tyler Ras earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings, retiring all five batters he faced and striking out two. Marino Santy added two scoreless innings of relief, and Vince Reilly closed it out with a two-inning save, allowing no hits and two walks while striking out four.

The Smokies got off to a fast start when second baseman Karson Simas drove the first pitch of the game over the left-field wall for his fourth home run of the season. He finished 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. After Columbus tied it in the bottom of the first, right fielder Alex Ramirez put Knoxville ahead for good with a solo home run in the top of the second—his second of the season. Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly, scoring twice and driving in four runs thanks to a two-run single in the ninth.

It was a night of strong pitching and timely hitting across the system, with South Bend's dominant performance stealing the show. For fans of Cubs prospects, there's plenty to be excited about as these young players continue to develop.
