With the Dallas Cowboys announcing that they won’t talk to George Pickens about a long-term deal and the star wide receiver signing a franchise tag with the NFC franchise, it’s safe to say a potential trade isn’t an impossible scenario.

Pickens hoped to ink a more stable deal with the Cowboys this offseason after accumulating 1,429 receiving yards and logging nine touchdowns in 2025-26. With that idea being off the table, a trade appears more likely than ever.

ClutchPoints’ Enzo Flojo believes the Cowboys could soon cut ties with Pickens in favor of a declining 22-year-old Buffalo Bills wideout.

“If the Cowboys are concerned about the long-term financial implications of retaining Pickens, the Bills can present a solution that benefits both sides,” Flojo wrote Thursday. The foundation of the perfect trade offer begins with Buffalo’s 2027 first-round pick.”

“It's a premium asset that aligns with Dallas’s long-standing philosophy of building through the draft. This gives the Cowboys flexibility to identify and develop a cost-controlled replacement while maintaining roster balance.”

“To enhance the package, Buffalo should include a 2026 fourth-round pick. That would add immediate draft capital to the deal. The final piece is a young, ascending defensive player. Maybe someone like Phidarian Mathis or Zion Logue. Alternatively, the Bills could send over Keon Coleman as part of the package.”

Pickens and Coleman are on opposite trajectories. While Pickens is on the path to becoming a premier receiver in the NFL, Coleman is dangerously close to getting on the Bills’ bad side and leaving the franchise no choice but to trade him.

Coleman’s inability to put together a complete season of consistent, high-level performances has plagued him thus far.

Coleman, who only recorded 100 receiving yards on one occasion in 2025-26, finished with less than five touchdowns and 600 receiving yards for the second consecutive season.

Perhaps the Florida State product could find his footing in Dallas, but Pickens is undeniably a more reliable WR option for the Cowboys at this point in time.
