Saturday of the 2026 NFL Draft went about as expected for the Dallas Cowboys. There was a flurry of action early, then a very long wait until their final pick. After defense dominated the first three rounds, the offense finally got some help on Day 3. Let’s recap the final rounds of this year’s draft.
Dallas had three fourth-round picks this year: their original pick and then two from Thursday night’s trade with the Eagles. The Cowboys moved down from the 20th-overall pick to 23rd, which they used to take EDGE Malachi Lawrence, in exchange for Philly’s two fourths. Dallas also gave up a seventh-rounder next year to complete the deal.
Using their original pick, 112th overall, the Cowboys selected OT Drew Shelton from Penn State. He was their first offensive pick of the draft, and it was no surprise that it came at tackle. With Tyler Guyton’s development still a bit dubious and a clear need for improved depth after last year, Shelton brings ample left tackle experience and significant athletic potential. He’ll need to develop his strength to hold up as an NFL starter, but the raw material makes him a solid addition to the pipeline.
With the first of the Philly picks, 114th overall, Dallas went back to defense with Florida CB Devin Moore. His prototypical 6’3” size and strong senior performance, but a sketchy medical history, make Moore a classic mid-round pick. He should elevate the competition for depth spots at what’s becoming a crowded cornerback room.
In the late fourth round, with a compensatory pick that the Eagles sent to Dallas, they added Alabama DE L.T. Overton. While listed as an EDGE throughout the draft process, Overton is likely more of a DE in the Cowboys new 3-4 scheme. He last weighed in at 287 lbs. at his Pro Day, projecting him as more of a 4i defensive lineman in Dallas. He’ll compete with similarly-sized veteran Jonathan Bullard for those snaps in the rotation.
Two whole rounds and 81 total picks later, Dallas finally capped their draft with East Carolina WR Anthony Smith. The Pirates’ leading receiver in 2025, Smith combines a 6’2” frame with 4.4 speed. With the Cowboys’ WR depth chart up for grabs after the top three, Smith could be competitive. We’ve watched Ryan Flournoy go from sixth round to WR3 in just two years, and seen other gems like Cole Beasley and Cedrick Wilson emerge from obscurity.

The draft may be done, but the offseason continues!
