The Indianapolis Colts may have struck gold in the late rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft, with one analyst tipping a seventh-round pick to make an immediate splash on the field.

JP Acosta of CBS Sports recently took a fresh look at the draft, selecting one "instant impact" rookie from each seventh round. Among the names, Colts wide receiver Deion Burks stood out as a potential game-changer. Selected with the 254th overall pick—just a few spots before the draft concluded—Burks brings a spark that Acosta believes can translate quickly to the NFL.

"Burks' speed is a game-changer, and despite his draft fall, if there's any Day 3 player who can make an instant impact, it's him," Acosta wrote.

The Colts' front office, including General Manager Chris Ballard, didn't expect Burks to still be on the board at that point. Landing him at pick 254 was a steal, especially considering he was ranked 96th on the consensus big board. That kind of value is rare in the seventh round, and it has Colts fans buzzing.

Burks was a key piece of Oklahoma's offense last season, hauling in 58 catches for 617 yards and four touchdowns on 86 targets. His ability to create yards after the catch was a standout trait, showcasing the playmaking versatility that the Colts hope to harness. At Oklahoma, he lined up both in the slot and out wide, and Indianapolis plans to use him in a similar dual role.

"He's fast, he's explosive," Ballard said. "We think he's got a real chance to help us, and we'll try to get him worked in the return game, too. Even though he hadn't done a lot of it, we think he's got upside as a returner."

With the Colts' wide receiver room in flux, Burks will have a clear path to compete for the WR3 role alongside Ashton Dulin and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. If his college production and raw speed translate, don't be surprised to see him making plays early on Sundays.
