The BYU Cougars have secured a homecoming story for their frontcourt, as former Clemson forward Jake Wahlin has committed to transfer to his hometown program. The 6-foot-10 forward, who will have one year of eligibility, brings valuable experience and size back to Provo after a winding collegiate journey.
Wahlin's path has been a unique one. A local three-star prospect from Timpview High, he initially signed with BYU in 2021 before flipping to Utah following a two-year mission. After two seasons with the Utes, where he averaged a career-best 6.3 points per game as a sophomore, he spent the 2025-26 season at Clemson.
With the Tigers, Wahlin became a reliable contributor, starting 28 of 35 games. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds while showcasing a developing outside shot, hitting 34% from three-point range. His versatility was on full display in a standout performance against Wake Forest last February, where he dropped a season-high 17 points and grabbed five rebounds.
For BYU, this addition is a significant boost. Wahlin provides immediate frontcourt depth, proven Power Five experience, and a high-IQ game honed in the ACC and Pac-12. His ability to stretch the floor as a forward fits perfectly into modern offensive schemes, making him a potential key piece for the Cougars' upcoming campaign.
This move completes a full-circle moment for the former McDonald's All-American nominee, who now gets to finish his collegiate career where it was always envisioned to begin, bringing his hard-earned experience back to the Marriott Center.
