The Kansas City Chiefs’ top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Mansoor Delane, has decided what number he will wear as he begins his career with the Chiefs, donning the red and gold.
The Chiefs posted an image to announce Delane will wear No. 5.
At LSU, he wore No. 4, also wearing it to finish out his three-year run playing for the Virginia Tech Hokies. He wore No. 23 there prior to embracing the single-digit swag.
Delane will take the uniform from former Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown, who wore No. 5 for two seasons. Before him, punter Tommy Townsend and his flowing hair represented it.
In fact, the No. 5 has long been a specialist’s number in Kansas City. Current Chicago Bears kicker Cairo Santos preceded Townsend, and in the heyday of the 1990s Chiefs, punter Louie Aguiar wore it for five seasons (1994-1998).
The team’s social media has revealed Delane and rookie defensive lineman Peter Woods arrived in Kansas City today, so we may learn what number the Clemson product will wear for the Chiefs soon.
