It was a night to forget at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest, deepening the gloom around a club already in crisis. The Blues, now languishing in ninth place in the Premier League, have lost six straight matches since March 21, scoring just one goal in that stretch. For interim coach Callum McFarlane, who inherited a depleted, unbalanced, and demoralized squad, this latest loss was another bitter pill to swallow.

The nightmare began almost immediately, with Nottingham Forest scoring in the second minute. Chelsea's defense quickly unraveled, and by the 15th minute, they were already 2-0 down. French international Malo Gusto was at fault for the second goal, conceding a penalty after a clumsy shirt pull. The first half was also marred by a worrying incident when 18-year-old Jesse Derry, making his Premier League debut, was stretchered off with a head injury after a collision with Forest's Zach Abbott, who also entered concussion protocol.

After the restart, things went from bad to worse. Cole Palmer, usually so reliable, missed a penalty that could have brought Chelsea back into the game. Then, after the hour mark, goalkeeper Robert Sánchez was forced off following a collision with Morgan Gibbs-White. In total, four players—Sánchez, Gibbs-White, Derry, and Abbott—suffered head injuries in a match that felt more like a battle than a football game.

The only silver lining for Chelsea came in stoppage time, when João Pedro scored a stunning acrobatic overhead kick to make it 3-1. The Brazilian has been one of the few bright spots this season, but even his brilliance couldn't mask the team's deep-rooted problems. With Champions League qualification now out of reach, Chelsea's season hangs by a thread. They can still salvage some pride by winning the FA Cup on May 16, but standing in their way are Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, overwhelming favorites to lift the trophy at Wembley. For a club that once conquered the world in the Club World Cup, those glory days feel like a distant memory.
