The New England Patriots have a new weapon on their offensive line, and he's ready to prove he's more than just a one-position player. Caleb Lomu, selected 28th overall in the NFL Draft, is embracing versatility as he joins a team already stacked at tackle.

With Will Campbell and Morgan Moses locked in as the starting offensive tackles, some might wonder where Lomu fits in. But the former Utah standout isn't sweating the details. "I just feel myself as a tackle just in general, left or right side," Lomu said during his introductory press conference at Gillette Stadium. After spending three years as Utah's starting left tackle and a stint as a swing tackle early on, he's confident he can adapt. "I've been working at right these past couple months. Feel just as good on the right side as well."

At 6-foot-6 and 313 pounds, Lomu projects as a long-term successor to the 35-year-old Moses on the right side. But the Patriots' front office sees even more potential. Executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf has hinted that Lomu could also slide into a guard role, adding another layer to his value. "Any position that they need me at I'm willing to play and will love to play," Lomu emphasized. "To get on the field and get some playing time, that's the goal."

What makes Lomu truly intriguing is his athletic background. A former quarterback and wide receiver in his early flag football days, he brings a rare blend of mobility and power to the trenches. That skill set could make him a key piece in New England's six-offensive-lineman packages, giving offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt more flexibility in run and pass protection.

For now, Lomu's role will start to take shape later this summer as training camp unfolds. But one thing is clear: the Patriots didn't just draft a tackle—they drafted a player ready to do whatever it takes to help the team win. Whether it's protecting the quarterback's blindside or opening holes in the running game, Lomu's versatility is a welcome addition to a line looking to rebuild its identity.
