Caitlin Clark sported a left leg sleeve during Indiana Fever practice on Monday, sparking some concern among fans. But Fever head coach Stephanie White quickly put those worries to rest.
"It's a style thing," White said with a laugh. "It looks good on her, doesn't it?"
The timing of the sleeve's appearance raised eyebrows, coming just days after Clark hit her kneecap on the court following a hard foul in Indiana's preseason matchup against the Dallas Wings on April 30. Social media buzzed with questions about whether the two-time WNBA All-Star might be dealing with an injury.
However, Clark herself had already eased those concerns before the Fever's May 2 preseason finale against the Nigerian national team, stating she experienced no overnight swelling or limitations from the fall. Unless there's an undisclosed issue, her choice to wear the sleeve appears to be purely preference or fashion.
Leg sleeves, much like the shooting sleeves players wear on their arms, serve multiple purposes: keeping muscles warm, providing stability or compression after minor injuries, or simply adding a stylish edge to a player's look. In Clark's case, it seems to be the latter—meaning Fever fans can breathe easy about any potential setbacks.
The real focus now shifts to the regular season. Clark and the Fever tip off their 2026 campaign against the Dallas Wings on Saturday, May 9, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The game starts at noon CT and will air nationally on ABC.
