The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were busy on Saturday, making two roster moves as they continue to shape their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
In a notable addition, the Bucs signed undrafted rookie linebacker Javin Wright out of Nebraska. The move brings Tampa Bay's total of undrafted rookies to 15, showing the team's commitment to finding hidden gems in the college ranks. Wright brings impressive credentials from his time with the Cornhuskers, where he appeared in 46 games over six seasons. As a senior, he stepped into a starting role and made an immediate impact, leading the team with 86 tackles and nine tackles for loss. He also showcased his versatility with three sacks, one interception, and four passes defensed across 12 games (10 starts).
Over his entire college career, Wright started 13 games for Nebraska, amassing 180 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and three interceptions. His experience and production make him an intriguing prospect for a Buccaneers defense always looking to add depth and athleticism at the linebacker position.
To make room on the roster, Tampa Bay waived first-year running back Michael Wiley with a non-football injury designation. Wiley originally joined the Bucs last October, spending the second half of the 2025 season on the team's practice squad before signing a futures contract in January. The Arizona product entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Commanders in 2024.
