The Boston Bruins are heading into the 2026 NHL Draft with a single first-round pick—the 23rd overall selection—and early mock drafts are already pointing to a promising Slovak defenseman to bolster their blue line.
Initially, it looked like the Bruins might have two first-round picks. They acquired the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2025 first-rounder in the Brandon Carlo trade, but that pick was top-five protected. When the Maple Leafs won the draft lottery, the pick stayed in Toronto, leaving Boston with just their own selection at No. 23.
That's where Adam Glojer enters the picture. At 6-foot-3, the Slovak defenseman has been turning heads with his reliable, no-frills game. NHL analyst Cory Pronman of The Athletic recently mocked Glojer to the Bruins, noting that "the Bruins haven't picked a defenseman in the first round in a decade."
Pronman describes Glojer as a player who "skates well, breaks up plays effectively, and makes a good first pass," even if he doesn't project as a major offensive threat. The scouting report paints him as a "dependable top-four presence" who could anchor Boston's blue line for years to come.
Gloger spent last season as a full-time player with Trencin Dukla in the Slovak league, posting 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 40 penalty minutes in 43 games. He also represented Slovakia at the 2026 World Juniors, skating in five games and showcasing his steady defensive game on the international stage.
For a Bruins team that values structure and reliability, Glojer fits the mold perfectly. The 2026 NHL Draft is set for June 26-27 in Buffalo, and Boston fans will be watching closely to see if this dependable Slovak defenseman becomes the next cornerstone of their defense.
