In a thrilling showdown between two of Division 3's elite, the No. 4-ranked Brooklyn Columbia Central Golden Eagles soared past No. 7 Jackson Lumen Christi with a commanding 4-0 victory on Monday, extending their perfect season to an impressive 17-0.

The game showcased a masterclass in pitching, with both aces delivering unforgettable performances. Columbia Central's Hailey Wetherby, already committed to the University of Akron, was simply untouchable in the circle. She fired a complete-game shutout, fanning 13 batters and keeping the Lumen Christi hitters off balance all afternoon. On the other side, Lumen Christi's Bella Wrozek matched her intensity, also going the distance with 12 strikeouts in a gutsy effort.

For much of the game, the Golden Eagles clung to a narrow 1-0 lead, making every pitch feel like a playoff moment. But in the bottom of the sixth inning, the tension finally broke. With runners on base, Raell Bice stepped up and delivered a clutch two-run double, giving her team some much-needed breathing room and sealing the win.

The two teams had been scheduled for a doubleheader, but Mother Nature had other plans, as the second game was washed out by rain.

What makes this Golden Eagles squad truly special is their dominance on both sides of the ball. Through 17 games, they have outscored their opponents by an astonishing 198-14 margin—a testament to their relentless offense and lockdown defense. Next up, they'll look to keep the streak alive on Wednesday when they host Homer.

As for Jackson Lumen Christi, they drop to 12-4-1 but have plenty of reasons to hold their heads high. They'll look to bounce back quickly on Tuesday when they travel to face Bloomfield Hills Marian.
