As the NBA offseason heats up, all eyes are on LeBron James and his next move—but even his own son is in the dark about what's coming next. Following the Los Angeles Lakers' season-ending Game 4 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, Bronny James was asked about his father's future plans, and his answer was refreshingly honest.
"I have no clue, I'm not gonna lie to you," Bronny told Lakers Nation. "He looks like he can play another however many years. But he's been in the league longer than he's been out of the league, so it's insane. I think he should think about it and whatever he feels happy with, do that."
Bronny added some perspective on the post-season decision-making process that every veteran athlete faces: "Every athlete after their season is gonna take some time to get off their feet and stuff like that. So just really depends on how your body is feeling, how your mind is feeling, and just playing it by heart."
When reporters pressed LeBron himself about his plans after the Game 4 defeat, the four-time champion kept his cards close to his chest. "I don't know what the future holds for me … I'll go back and recalibrate with my family and talk with them, spend some time with them, and when the time comes, you guys will know what I decide to do," he said.
If the 39-year-old superstar decides to return for another NBA season, the speculation machine will kick into overdrive. Rumors have linked him to the Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, while some whisper about a homecoming with the Cleveland Cavaliers or a final championship push alongside the Golden State Warriors. For now, though, the basketball world waits—along with his own family—to see what LeBron decides.
