The Denver Broncos have a proud tradition of turning undrafted free agents into NFL stars—think Rod Smith, Chris Harris Jr., and Phillip Lindsay. That legacy continues this season as the team looks to add depth to its secondary with a promising young cornerback.
Meet Ahmari Harvey, a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back out of Georgia Tech who signed with the Broncos after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. Harvey brings a solid collegiate résumé to Denver, having played in 43 games for the Yellow Jackets and recording four interceptions during his time in the ACC.
At first glance, Harvey’s size is the biggest question mark. In the NFL, bigger, more physical wide receivers could pose a challenge, which might lead the Broncos to consider moving him inside to the nickelback spot. There are also concerns about how effective he can be against the run game. But as any savvy football fan knows, when the physical tools aren't overwhelming, the mental game has to step up—and that’s where Harvey shines.
He’s described as a smart, instinctive player who doesn’t shy away from contact despite his frame. Harvey is willing to stick his head in and make a tackle, and he competes with a scrappy, physical mindset that coaches love. At the next level, he’ll need to prove he can be sticky in coverage and reliable in the open field, but his football IQ gives him a real shot.
The Broncos’ cornerback room is already loaded with talent. Pat Surtain II anchors the group, joined by Riley Moss and Ja’Quan McMillian. Last year’s first-round pick, Jahdae Barron, and Kris Abrams-Draine also add depth. Still, there’s always room for a developmental player who can contribute on special teams and grow into a rotational role.
Harvey will have plenty to prove in training camp, but if history is any guide, the Broncos know how to find diamonds in the rough. Keep an eye on this undrafted rookie as he fights for a spot on the 53-man roster.
