The Denver Broncos have made a tough call on one of their undrafted rookie hopefuls, deciding not to offer a contract to wide receiver Sean Brown out of Charlotte. The news comes just as the team kicked off its rookie minicamp, adding a twist to the start of the offseason program.

Brown, who was initially reported to be signing with the Broncos shortly after the 2026 NFL Draft, saw his opportunity slip away after failing a physical due to a fractured foot that is still healing. While this setback doesn't close the door on his NFL dreams entirely, it certainly makes the path steeper. He could still sign with Denver or another team once his foot is fully recovered, but for now, his journey to the pros is on hold.

This development leaves the Broncos with 13 undrafted free agents on their roster. Brown was always facing an uphill battle to make the 53-man squad, given the team's deep wide receiver room. During his college career, he hauled in 75 passes for 1,018 yards and two touchdowns, but it was his 6-foot-4 frame that made him an intriguing prospect—especially as a potential practice squad addition.

The Broncos were likely excited to see Brown compete in training camp, and it's probable they'll keep an eye on his recovery. A midseason or future signing isn't out of the question if he can get healthy and show he's ready to contribute. Without him, Denver now has 11 wide receivers on the roster, including four other undrafted rookies: Joseph Manjack, Dane Key, Kolbe Katsis, and Cam Ross.

For now, Brown's NFL debut will have to wait, but his size and potential still make him a name to watch as the summer unfolds.
