After two long years away from their beloved home, FC Barcelona finally returned to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou just a few months ago. But the celebration might be short-lived. With the stadium's roof installation still pending, the Blaugrana are already planning another temporary move—this time back to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc.

According to Cadena SER, the club is working hard to avoid a stadium crisis at the start of the 2027/28 season. Barcelona has reportedly consulted the City Council about using Montjuïc for a significant chunk of that campaign. The plan? Begin installing the roof at Camp Nou in June 2027, right after the season ends. This construction phase is expected to take four to five months, but that's just the start.

Once the roof is in place, City Council technicians will need to inspect the work and approve all safety permits—a process that could add even more time. That leaves a window of uncertainty where Barcelona must have a backup plan for hosting La Liga and Champions League matches.

The Estadi Johan Cruyff could step in for a game or two, as it did earlier this season, but it's not built for months of top-flight action. That's why a return to Montjuïc is looking like the most viable option. While no formal booking has been made, Barcelona has already asked about using the Lluís Companys Stadium until January or February 2028. The goal? Avoid a venue gap and the sharp revenue drop that would come with it. For a club of Barça's stature, every match at home counts—both on the pitch and in the books.
