The Lakers' season came to a close Monday night after the Thunder swept them in the Western Conference semifinals. Now, the focus shifts to building a contender for next year—and two key players are at the center of the conversation.

Austin Reaves and LeBron James both face free agency this summer. Reaves is widely expected to stay in Los Angeles, but James' future is far less certain. Some insiders suggest LeBron would need to take a pay cut to remain with the Lakers, while others believe it may be time for the franchise and the superstar to go their separate ways.

After the Game 4 loss, Reaves shared just how much playing alongside James has meant to him. "Man, it would mean the world to me. I don't know anything different," Reaves said. "My rookie year, I had no idea what's going on, and he basically took me under his wing. He gave me every opportunity I could ask for, trusted me beyond the court, and we built a real friendship. He's into golf now, so we're even closer. It's been super fun. I hope to continue that. He's taught me a lot, and I love him for my career. He gives me confidence every single day."

Reaves is expected to decline his $14.9 million player option for next season, making him eligible for a five-year, $241 million max extension with the Lakers. Meanwhile, James faces a three-way decision: re-sign with Los Angeles, join another team, or retire after 23 seasons.

For now, Lakers fans can hold onto hope that the bond between Reaves and James keeps the duo together for another run.
