Arizona now has 3 middle blockers on next year’s roster

The Arizona Wildcats volleyball program is undergoing a significant roster shakeup this offseason, and the latest departure comes from the middle of the net. Sophomore middle blocker Adrianna Bridges has entered the transfer portal, making her the ninth player to leave the team since the Wildcats ended their NCAA Tournament drought last fall.

Bridges, a Florida native, brings two years of eligibility to her next program. She joins outside hitter Paige Thies and setter Chloe Giehtbrock in entering the spring portal window, following earlier departures by setter Avery Scoggins and defensive specialist Giorgia Mandotti during the December window. Scoggins has since committed to Vanderbilt, while Mandotti landed at West Georgia.

Bridges arrived in Tucson as part of a standout recruiting class alongside Carlie Cisneros, Brenna Ginder, and Scoggins—all of whom started as freshmen. Bridges took a bit longer to break into the starting lineup, but she made her mark as a sophomore.

After playing just 17 sets across 11 matches as a freshman, Bridges started all 30 matches in her second season, logging 102 sets. She led the Wildcats with 0.87 blocks per set and 89 total blocks, while her 148 kills ranked first among middle blockers and third on the team overall. She averaged 1.45 kills per set on an impressive .284 hitting percentage.

Her statistical leap from year one to year two was remarkable. Bridges nearly tripled her kills per set from 0.47 as a freshman to 1.45 as a sophomore, while her hitting percentage jumped from .263 to .284. She also developed a service game, going from zero aces as a freshman to 0.18 per set as a sophomore—fifth-best on the team and third among returning players.

Head coach Rita Stubbs now has 11 players on the 2026 roster, including early-entry freshman Hayden Reeder. The current roster features five pin hitters (three outside hitters, two opposites), three middles, two setters, and three libero/defensive specialists. The team will also add middle blocker Marina Vosloo and libero/defensive specialist Gigi Whann over the summer.

With Bridges gone, the middle blocker rotation now consists of rising senior Journey Tucker, sophomore-to-be Maya Flemister, and incoming freshman Vosloo. Notably, Sydnie Vanek, who also saw time at middle last season, has left the team to focus on track and field.
