Ansu Fati’s father has offered an update on the forward’s future as he heads towards the end of his season-long loan with Monaco.

The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals for the Ligue 1 club this season, prompting speculation they will pay the 11 million euro buy option in his contract.

Bori Fati says his son wants to stay with Monaco but isn’t sure yet what will happen.

“We still don’t know, because he has a contract until 2028, that’s for sure. We don’t know, but we want him to stay at Monaco, because he is happy there,” he told WinWin.

Fati senior was also asked if Hansi Flick had been in touch and added: “Not yet, it depends on Flick, and he hasn’t spoken to him yet.”

Ansu’s form this season has led to speculation he could be handed a recall to the Spain squad for World Cup 2026, and Bori Fati is hopeful that Luis de la Fuente has been watching his son in action.

“We hope so. As for the numbers, if he continues in these three remaining matches with Monaco and participates in all of them, that’s what we’re waiting for,” he explained.

“When he is called up again to the Spanish national team, he will do his best because – in terms of numbers as a striker – he has a higher number of goals. But in the end, we have to wait.”
